Occidental Mindoro Hit by 4.2 Magnitude Quake, Phivolcs Says

EARTHQUAKE ALERT – The state seismology agency Phivolcs reported that a 4.2 magnitude quake hits Occidental Mindoro, July 14, 2020.

Earthquake is one of the most common disasters happening in different countries all around the world. Tremors occur almost every day in several places at different magnitudes and intensities.

Tremors could hit places without showing any signs or indications. Aftershocks are also expected to follow the quakes. It could also cause minor to major damages in quake-affected areas.

4.2 Magnitude Quake

On Tuesday afternoon (2.15 pm – July 14, 2020), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that a magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits the town of Lubang in the province of Occidental Mindoro.

Phivolcs said that the quake’s epicenter is located at 13.93°N, 119.84°E – 030 km N 74° W of Lubang (Occidental Mindoro). The moderately strong tremor has a depth of focus of 019 kilometers.

The earthquake is tectonic in origin and no aftershocks are expected following the incident. No damage has been recorded as of this writing.
