LGBTQ community feasted as the short film of Markki Stroem and Mike Liwag “Andrew & Brix”, the first of six stories of Unlocked anthology created by Direk Adolf Alix Jr.
The short film was uploaded on July 9, Thursday, to the gay-oriented online streaming service “Gagaoolala.” There is some intimate scene that both actors were naked, where it was indicated that the characters were wearing condoms.
However, the intimate scenes were immediately pirated, and the video clip was spread on Twitter, Messenger, and Viber. The actors Markki, Mike, and Direk Adolf airs disappointment to the people who spread the clip illegally.
One of the actors, Mike, said, “I’m sad and disappointed, Kasi, for the benefit ito ng mga filmmakers na walang trabaho and naapektuhan ng pandemic, ‘tapos ipa-pirate lang nila.”
“Pinaghirapan namin yung short film under quarantine, tapos, ito yung gagawin nila? Respect for PH Film industry pls,” he added.
Meanwhile, Markki, a Filipino-Norwegian singer-actor, is not new to such a scene because he was already captured undressed in the Cinemalaya movie Amor y Muerte (2013). He also undressed in the play Hair (2017),
Direk Adolf stresses, “Piracy is an unavoidable reality given that the series is available on an online platform… We just hope that they will be able to see it in the proper venue where it was released so they can understand the context of the scene in the entire story rather than singling-out a part of the whole narrative.”
“Unlocked” is a 6-episode series of an anthology about gay relationships under lockdown premiering at @ gagaoolala.official, the one, and only LGBTQ dedicated online streaming service in Southeast Asia. Each stage focuses on the different types of loving relationships put to the test under lockdown
“I wanted to develop stories where the circumstances of the pandemic are a catalyst for a deeper examination of relationships. It acts as a purgation of sorts – be it the physical distance or the paranoia of the situation,” explained by the creator of the series Adolfo Alix Jr.
