House Franchise Committee Decides on ABS-CBN Franchise Bid Amid Issues Surrounding the Network
ABS-CBN FRANCHISE RENEWAL – The House Franchise Committee has decided on the fate of the franchise of the ABS-CBN network.
A lot of issues are surrounding the ABS-CBN network. For two (2) months now, the broadcasting operation of the network is on off-air following the order released by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
The NTC issued a Cease and Desist Order over the expired franchise of the network. Immediately, the ABS-CBN News went off air – which gained different reactions from the people.
Many are concerned about the employees of the Kapamilya network amid the COVID-19 crisis. On another side, a lot of people also believe that the law must be upheld as the network’s franchise has expired.

Recently, the House Franchise Committee has given its verdict on the ABS-CBN franchise bid. Based on a post of ABS-CBN News, it has denied giving new franchise to the Kapamilya network. The following are the votings:
- Yes (meaning to deny) – 70
- No – 11
- Inhibit – 2
- Abstain – 1
