According to ABS-CBN’s PUSH, the series, entitled “Quarantina Gothika” is a series of “single-character horror short films.

This is directed by Lore Reyes, Christian Acuña, and Jo Macasa and stars Gallaga’s daughter Michelle Gallaga, as well as actresses Solenn Heussaff and G Tongi.

Vicente Garcia, one of the screenwriters, shared how the project came to being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Garcia said that it began with a Zoom meeting. Eventually, the project gradually materialized:

“In a matter of days, a team was assembled, and suddenly, preprod work, shoots, and postprod were overlapping.”

Vicente never thought that the project, which they never thought was possible, was actually taking form.

“In mid-May, we were reeling from the loss of a beloved father, mentor, colleague, and friend, and our grieving was frustrated and compounded by the horror of the pandemic and the paranoia of the lockdown. We need to do something to take our minds off these things, we said, so we did,”

The screenwriter said that days after the death of the well-loved director, the aforementioned directors met via video conference to sketch out “Quarantina Gothika.”

As for the location, he said that its no longer a limitation since that same day, they contacted Michelle Gallagato and asked if she was up for portraying a blind woman dealing with a home invasion, which she agreed.

Based on the report, the series would be a trio of short films, in which scriptwriters Vince Groyon and Wanggo Gallaga joined the project and took the challenge to make concepts that were tailored to the resources available under the quarantine conditions of the actors.

Among the three short films were two films, “Hello Mom” and “In House”, which were shot in one shooting day each, which would take 10 hours. The third film “Solitaire”, on the other hand, had a more staggered shooting schedule since it alternated with Solenn’s daughter’s sleep schedule.

The film series will be released on August 1.
