Cop In Sulu Shooting Mishap Confirmed COVID-19 Positive

COP IN SULU SHOOTING – One of the policemen who was involved in a shooting incident in Jolo, Sulu was confirmed COVID-19 positive.

This was confirmed by Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, according to Inquirer, in a press briefing when he said that he was supposed to bring the nine respondents.

“I was supposed to bring the nine respondents to Manila pero nagkaroon ng problema pero nag positive ‘yung isa,”

“I am putting now the responsibility to the regional director of BARMM to bring the policemen anytime this week,”

Based on the report, Gamboa, however, said that an RT-PCR or reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test is still required in order to confirm the rapid test result of the said positive case.

A shooting incident, which occurred in Jolo, Sulu occurred on June 29. This resulted in four military killed by policemen.

The investigation report from the PNP said that four soldiers were onboard a Montero SUV and were flagged down at a checkpoint in Marina Street, Jolo town. They were allegedly instructed to go to the police station for questioning

Upon arriving at JMPS, however, they allegedly defied the cop’s order and fled.

The officers said that the soldiers allegedly “lifted and pointed their firearms towards the PNP personnel.”

Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) commander Cirilito Sobejana, however, said that he would not believe the report from the PNP.
