Hearing For Internet Service Suspended Due To Bad Internet Connection
HEARING FOR INTERNET SERVICE SUSPENDED – Internet service in the Philippines has lagged in comparison to other countries.
The packages offered in the Philippines are more expensive and slower than those offered in other Asian nations. As such, the Filipino people had long cried for change, better connectivity, and more affordable prices.
Sadly, since the country’s Internet Service Providers have been ruled by a duopoly, that change has yet to come.
As such, a Senate public services committee hearing into the current state of the Philippines’ internet service was held. However, the hearing took an ironic turn as it was halted due to bad internet connectivity.
According to an article from Inquirer, Senator Grace Poe stated:
I would like to continue this hearing after we thresh out this problem with our connection. It’s quite ironic, again, that we are having connectivity issues in a hearing on connectivity.
Previously, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) itself couldn’t connect to the online hearing with Senator Gatchalian. The hearing was about the Philippines’ transition to online learning.
However, as the Senate themselves experienced, this problem remains true for thousands of educators and students.

Additionally, Senator Poe herself said that their hearing was “the worst” she had ever attended.
Still, Poe didn’t want to stop her probe on the country’s internet service. Instead, she warned that in the next meeting, she would require physical presence if needed.
Akala niyo titigilan ko kayo, If I have to require your physical presence here next time I will.
