Amid every crisis the Philippines has encountered, one thing remained constant – help from Angel Locsin. Throughout her career in showbiz, Locsin has played Heroines, strong and empowered characters. However, her heroism doesn’t end when she walks out of the camera’s lens.
During this pandemic, the Philippines has been heavily affected. Thousands have lost their jobs and some families are left with nothing to eat.
Adding to this, several injustices have been done to those trying to get by in these trying times much like our jeepney drivers.
Recently, a group of jeepney drivers and operators took to the streets to call attention to their situation. But, instead of receiving help, they got jailed. Sadly, that wasn’t the only thing they got as reports said that some were also infected with COVID-19.
Luckily, Locsin, being the philanthropist that she is, made a campaign that could help people like our jeepney drivers get the assistance they deserve.
In an Instagram post, she said:
Dahil sa pagsuporta nyo sa Shop and Share, natulungan nyo po sila Tatay na kasama sa grupo ng jeepney drivers at operators na na-expose sa COVID-19 upang makapagpa-test sa Red Cross noong Miyerkules. Marami pa po sa ating mga kababayan na tulad nila ang inyong matutulungan. Taos puso po ang aming pasasalamat. @shopandshareph
