DSWD Official Says 11 Workers Tests Positive For New Coronavirus, COVID-19

DSWD WORKERS POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS – Recently, there had been an influx of reports of government workers testing positive for COVID-19.

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), 11 of its employees tested positive for the new coronavirus. But, despite this, DSWD Undersecretary Rene Paje said that the agency’s work will continue.

Based on a report from GMA, Paje stated:

Ikinalulungkot po namin na 11 na sa kawani ng DSWD ang natukoy na positibo sa COVID-19

Ngunit patuloy pa rin po ang ating mga empleyado, ang ating mga frontliner sa pagganap sa kanilang tungkulin

Yesterday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported six more confirmed cases of the virus from within its ranks. Currently, the Philippines’ police force has recorded 456 total cases of COVID-19.

Likewise, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the MRT-3 also recorded employees who tested positive for the deadly disease. Following the confirmation of the virus, both agencies had already conducted contract tracing and isolation for their workers.

Similarly, Paje said that the DSWD had already referred their workers to hospitals and medical services in their respective hometowns. Additionally, Paje said that the DSWD already distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to their frontliners.

Since June 17, the DSWD had been on the frontlines as they distributed the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). As per the report, Paje said:

Patuloy lamang po ang pag-ingat at sinusuportahan naman po natin sila sa pamamagitan ng pag-issue ng mga PPEs at iba pang mga gamit na makakatulong upang maiwasan ang COVID,
