Malungon Town Barangay Official Probed For Smuggling Liquor
MALUNGON TOWN BARANGAY OFFICIAL – A barangay official in Malungon town, Sarangani, is under probe for smuggling liquor into COVID-19 facility.
This was reported by Malungon Town Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino, who said that the official, identified as Rolly Tumulon, is now under investigation for the said violation, according to PhilStar.
Tumulon is part of the barangay council in Nagpan, Malungon, where the municipal governmeny has a COVID-19 quarantine facility, which was supposedly off limits to non-medical staff.
The barangay kagawad also allegedly harassed a woman, a locally stranded individual or LSI, who is being quarantined in the facility.
This was recorded on video via a phone camera by another person who was confined in the said facility.
Based on the report, Constantino, who is also known as an advocate of women and children’s welfare, said that she cannot tolerate his reported actions.
Tumulon had breached the protocol by entering the said facility drunk over the weekend and offered liquor to persons inside despite the fact that he was not even a member of the barangay health team overseeing the facility.
The mayor was irritated by the kagawad’s rude treatment of a woman inside the facility.
“As public servants, we are duty bound to behave with tact, prudence and integrity,”
