Amid the COVID-19 pandemic that placed a huge fight in front of over 200 nations and territories including the Philippines, the deadline for the SSS monthly contribution was moved to June 30.
Undeniably, a lot of people temporarily lost their source of income amid the implementation of community quarantine measures. Several non-essential businesses stopped their operation thus no-work-no-pay employees received lower, if none, monthly salaries.
Recently, an update from SSS crossed the surface. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the social insurance institution is encouraging its members to pay the monthly contribution online.
According to Social Security System Public Affairs and Events acting head Fernando Nicolas, using the online payment facilities can help avoid long lines in banks and branches of the institution.
Based on the report, members who got their phone numbers registered to the social insurance institution may receive a payment reference number monthly. A member may also obtain it from the SSS website.
