DANDING COJUANGCO DEATH – San Miguel CEO and chairman Danding Cojuangco passed away at age 85 and the Malacanang Palace has this statement.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of San Miguel Corporation Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. passed away Tuesday night, June 16, at the age of 85. He succumbed to pneumonia and heart attack as per the tycoon’s family.

Now, the Malacanang, conveying their condolences to family and friends of Cojuangco, expressed their sadness and mourning over loss. Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said in a statement that they are “deeply saddened by the passing”.

They also hailed his “immense contribution to the socioeconomic development of the Philippines” through his San Miguel Corporation (SMC) over their food, beverages, energy, power, oil refining, and infrastructure operations. In their statement, they also included how his company helped provide livelihood opportunities to thousands of Filipinos and for being one of the government’s arms to help people amid the pandemic.

“The Palace offers its fervent prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of Mr. Cojuangco as we convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, friends, and loved ones,” he said as per Manila Bulletin report.

Meanwhile, the late business tycoon is not only chairman and CEO of SMC but also acted as CEO of Ginebra San Miguel Inc and Chairman of the Board for Petron. He is also team owner owning three (3) Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams such as San Miguel Beermen, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, and Magnolia Hotshots.

He also owns private cement-manufacturing business, stud farms, and wineries in Australia and was declared as the one of the richest personalities in the Philippines in 2019 landing on the 16th spot.
