Cebu Eyes Looser Quarantine, Says Spike Due To Aggressive Testing

Cebu City Eyes Looser Quarantine To Help Economy Recover

CEBU EYES LOOSER QUARANTINE – Despite the spike in the number of cases, Cebu officials will ask the national government to ease its lockdown.

After 2 months into quarantine, the economy has been hit hard by the virus. As such, Cebu City calls for the government to reduce its lockdown restrictions to help its economy recover.

Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the city under a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). The classification would be stricter than the previous “general community quarantine” (GCQ) after Cebu surpassed Quezon with the highest virus-count in the country.

As such, Cebu Mayor Edgardo Leballa said mass testing was “the best way to fight this invisible enemy”. Moreover, he added that Cebu would never stop their testing even if the cases go up.
