ALABAMA COPS – A horrific scene took place after a black business owner reported a robbery in his shop.
As the police came in, the black business owner tried to explain what happened. However, he was quickly punched, tackled, pinned to the ground, and arrested by two Alabama policemen.
The man they tackled was armed with a gun as he attempted to dissuade the robber and defend his shop. But, the police quickly took his as the suspect and punched him in the face.
According to an article from Al news, the incident took place on March 15 but resurfaced following the protests over the death of George Floyd. The video clip shows surveillance footage from a liquor store on Sixth Avenue in Decatur in north Alabama.
A police officer walks straight into his store called “Star Spirits and Beverages” and immediately punched the 47-year-old owner, Kevin Penn.
As per the article, Penn said he called the police to report that his store was robbed and that he was holding the suspect at gunpoint. Meanwhile, according to Decatur police chief Nate Allen, the police believed Penn to be the suspect because he was armed.
Not only that but reports also say that the police accused Penn of obstructing their investigation of the robbery according to official court records.
When the police came into his store, Penn showed his firearm to the police to make sure he knew he was armed. Then, he took out the magazine and emptied the bullet in the chamber.
Meanwhile, in court records, the police officer who punched Penn said Penn “refused to obey lawful commands to put down and back away from a firearm while officers were attempting to investigate a robbery”.
