Woman Severely Beaten After Refusing to Give Money to Beggar in Mandaluyong
A woman was seriously injured after she was reportedly attacked by a beggar who asked her for money along a street in Mandaluyong City.
On Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2026, the woman just got off a train at Boni MRT Station when the incident happened. According to witnesses, the woman had just left the station and was walking along the road when a man approached her and asked for money.
A vendor who saw the incident shared that the man tried to ask the woman for help, but she did not give him anything and continued walking. Instead of leaving her alone, the man allegedly followed her.
After a few moments, the situation turned violent. The suspect reportedly attacked the woman and repeatedly hit her. Witnesses said the woman eventually fell to the ground during the assault.
Even after she collapsed, the man allegedly continued hurting her by kicking her and hitting her head against a wall.
People nearby quickly noticed the attack and rushed to help the victim. Several bystanders stepped in and confronted the suspect. Some of them held him until authorities arrived at the scene.
Police officers and members of the coast guard who were nearby responded quickly and took the suspect into custody. He was brought to the police station for further investigation.
At first, some witnesses believed the two individuals might have known each other or that the incident was a dispute between a couple. However, authorities later clarified that the suspect and the victim were not in a relationship.
Police also confirmed that the woman was not robbed during the attack, correcting earlier speculation that spread online after a video of the incident went viral.
The suspect is now facing a charge of frustrated murder and is currently being held while the case is being processed. Meanwhile, the injured woman received medical attention as authorities continue to investigate the violent incident.
