SONA 2020: Roque Informs “Blended SONA” Next Month Of Duterte

“Blended” SONA 2020 of President Duterte to happen next month.

SONA 2020 – President Rodrigo Duterte’s second to the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) will have alternative ways due to pandemic.

The State of the Nation Address or SONA of a president in a country is a “constitutional obligation and yearly tradition”. This is where the leader of the country reports the status of the country to the people and their plans for the country in the following year. This is the reason why SONA is important.

This way, people are aware of present economic, political, and social condition of the country and the president’s means to summarize his plans and what he has accomplished. And for this year, his 5th SONA, they are eyeing for a “blended” SONA because of pandemic. If there’s blended learning, there will also be a “blended” SONA.

It will be delivered next month and will have alternative ways as per Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque. He said during a televised press briefing, “That is being discussed. I think kung mayroon tayong blended learning (If we have blended learning), we will also have a blended SONA.”

Instead of doing it in the traditional venue in Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, he will be in Malacanang and it is up for the senators where they wanted to hear or listen to it from. Based on the constitution, this should be held at the opening of its regular session every fourth Monday of July as per Inquirer.

Meanwhile, ahead of SONA, House Committee on Food and Agriculture will pursue Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund. Also in previous article, he would like the officials to call him “Mayor” instead of “Your Excellency”.
