Sick OFW Seeking Help in Viral Video Passes Away Due to Illness

A sick OFW identified as Marcelo Tanyag who goes viral after seeking from the netizens has already passed away.

Marcelo Tanyag, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia goes viral after uploading his video pleading for help. He recorded the video last Sunday (May 31, 2020) and it immediately spread like a wildfire online.

In the video, it can be seen that Tanyag is feeling weak and keeps coughing while making the video.  He does not know what to do anymore after he fell sick on May 23, 2020. He was brought to a clinic but he was eventually sent back to villa.

“Pinipilit ko na lang po mag-record kahit hirap na hirap na ako. Sa totoo lang, ilang araw na akong humihingi ng tulong,” Tanyag said.

Tanyag’s younger sister, Marjorie explained that her brother looked much older in the video although he is just 48. The sick OFW’s health instantly dropped in just five days, according to Marjoriue.

However, it was still unclear if he is infected with the new coronavirus disease.

Unfortunately, a few days after making the video, the 48-year-old OFW passed away due to his illness. Tanyag’s boss informed his family about the bad news but no other details have been given.

The employer said that they are already coordinating with the Philippine Embassy for the repatriation of Tanyag’s remains.
