Here is the new COVID-19 testing benefit package of PhilHealth
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) released this new benefit package for the COVID-19 testing.
Amid the crisis, the insurance corporation is also finding ways to give assistance to many people as possible, especially those who are infected by the virus.
Moreover, it has also provided assistance to those who will take the COVID-19 test. Based on the recent post on the official Twitter account of PhilHealth, it has set new rates for benefit package for the new coronavirus testing.
The new rates came from a decision after the corporation conducted a consultation with stakeholders and infectious disease experts. In this decision, the corporation also considered factors such as the increased availability and affordability of testing kits in the market as well as the increased number of qualified facilities that can conduct the COVID-19 test.
The PhilHealth board also approved these new rates.
The insurance corporation also reminded the public that the benefit package will cover the costs related to COVID-19 testing only such as clinical assessment, specimen collection, specimen transport, and materials like personal protective equipment and test kits.

Meanwhile, last month, the insurance corporation received criticisms with the increase in its premium payment rate for OFWs. However, based on a previous report, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the premium rate that is 3 percent of the monthly salary of Filipinos working abroad will be voluntary.
