Gapan Mayor aims to provide internet for education

Internet for Education – Gapan City Mayor Emerson Pascual said that the local government will provide cheap internet connection in all houses.

Mayor Emeng is one of the local government officials who garnered admiration due to his efforts, with his fellow officials, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the previous report, residents of Gapan City were able to receive abundant relief goods from the LGU as well as cash aids, aside from the cash assistance provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development through the Social Amelioration Program.

As the education department is also affected by the pandemic, based on the report from Inquirer, the city government of Gapan will also provide internet for education.

Reportedly, Mayor Emeng said that every houses in Gapan City will be provided with reliable internet connection. “Reliable” means with speeds of up to 5 Mbps. Moreover, it will be affordable also because it costs P50 a month.

With this, students in Gapan City will be able to cope up with the new normal when it comes to contact-less learning. Mayor Emeng also said that the city government has already allocated the needed budget to install fiber optics even for houses in very remote areas in Gapan. “All houses will have internet connection in the city of Gapan,” he said.

The Mayor added that face-to-face classes cannot take place amid the pandemic, only 10 percent of Gapan’s household can cope up with this, thus, their initiative for this project.

With the order from the Department of Education regarding the mix method in learning amid the pandemic, that will require internet service, Mayor Emeng has announced this, based on the report.
