GMA writer Suzette Doctolero on ABS-CBN tax related figures.
ABS-CBN TAX – Famous Kapuso writer Suzette Doctolero has this statement regarding the tax related figures of GMA and ABS-CBN.
The tax evasion by definition is a criminal offense by which “a person or an organization illegally takes purposeful steps to avoid paying a tax liability” and considered as fraud as per Bankrate. And this is one of the legal issues ABS-CBN network is facing right now after its shut down and now filing for a franchise renewal.
And with the tax-related figures between ABS-CBN and GMA in the year 2017, 2018, and 2019, a data shown during the recent hearing has made rounds online. GMA head writer Suzette Doctolero expressed her opinion about it.
In the first paragraph of her post, she stressed that she is not against the franchise renewal of their rival network because they want competition. She even iterated that she wanted to win against their rival in fair competition. Being alone is not healthy and boring accordingly.
However, with the said data, she appealed for investigation over the intriguing figures presented. She also added that she is proud to be a Kapuso because of their network’s integrity in paying right taxes.
She furthered, “Alam kong ‘di ilegal ang tax avoidance pero bakit naman kumuha pa ng 84m sa gobyerno? Hindi ba’t tax din natin to?”
However, in a February report from Inquirer, it has stated there that Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) indicated nopending violations versus or involving the giant network.
