Central Philippine University Held Virtual Graduation Amid COVID-19 Crisis

CPU or Central Philippine University held virtual commencement exercises for the graduation of their students amid the pandemic.

As the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) stricken the country, events and mass gatherings including commencement exercises, are cancelled as part of government precautionary measures to prevent the spread of virus.

Meanwhile, as many graduands feel sad for the cancellation, CPU uses the modern technology to pursue the event amid the crisis. on Thursday, May 28, 2020, CPU held virtual commencement exercise to for the graduation of their students.

“We at Central Philippine University understand the value of such time honored tradition as graduation, it is not only tradition it honors the hard work of our students their parents and their mentors. It celebrates their commitment to excellence thus this special virtual commencement exercises of the colleges,” said Carmelle Frances Romero, admin officer of the university’s presidential office.

On May 11 the university media team began shooting and it took about two weeks for the editors to finish the program, based on the report. All videos were released into the graduation program from guests’ messages, intermission numbers, and speeches.

The program for graduates was released on social media. In their Facebook live, One by one the release of graphics by the university’s 727 graduates with a graduation picture, name, and message from the graduate.

There are also inspirational messages from deans of different departments. Up to 29 university graduates, 3 summa cum laude, 7 magna cum laude, and 19 cum laude.
