Meanwhile, the local government now recorded 255 tricycle drivers who were test positive of COVID-19. According to the Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, government still don’t know how these tricycle drivers got infected.

Abalos said they cannot trace yet how the virus transmitted to those infected drivers. The Mayor added, those drivers who tested positive with COVID-19 are not yet operating.

“Hindi pa naman sila bumibiyahe talaga, actually ang sabi ko kasi hangga’t walang rapid test, hindi sila puwedeng bumiyahe,” she said in an interview with GMA’s Unang Balita.

Abalos added.

According to the report, the 255 tricycle drivers are all asymptomatic. They also came from the different barangays, the mayor said.

Abalos assured Mandaluyong residents that positive drivers are already isolated and will not return to work. And after the city shifted to general community quarantine (GCQ), only half of the tricycle drivers are allowed to operate.
