Authorities Seize Hundreds of Master Cases of Fake Two Moon & LG In Pagadian City
AUTHORITIES – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) seized hundreds of master cases of fake Two Moon and LG in Barangay Bulatok, Pagadian City.
Smoking cigarettes is very harmful to people’s health. A person who smokes can obtain heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke. It can also cause harmful effects to non-smokers who inhaled the smoke.
Last year, the Department of Health (DOH) proposed to increase the tax of cigarettes yearly to stop Pinoys from smoking. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte eventually approved the higher tax for tobacco products. The tax will increase in the succeeding years.
The increase in the excise tax on tobacco will also help the government. DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said the tax will support the funds of the Universal Health Care (UHC) program.
However, there are factories that manufacture fake cigarettes. Last year, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) confiscated P100 million worth of counterfeited cigarettes in Iligan City. Cops raided 2 houses that were rented by a Chinese businessman. The owner of the house said she had no idea that the Chinese were selling fake cigarettes.
On Wednesday, May 26, Inquirer Regions shared photos of the cigarettes that were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) on their Twitter account.
Based on the caption, the authorities found hundreds of master cases of counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes inside a house in Barangay Bulatok, Pagadian City. They also found fake BIR documentary stamps.
The cigarette brands that are being counterfeited are Two Moon and LG cigarettes. Here are the photos:
