Bicycle Sellers In Manila Assemble, Restore Surplus & Second Hand Bicycles
MANILA – Bicycle sellers in Manila assemble and restore surplus and second-hand bicycles amid MECQ.
The Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) placed the National Capital Region, Angeles City, Laguna, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Zambales under “modified enhanced community quarantine” (MECQ). Under MECQ, manufacturing and retail activities are allowed to resume.
Authorities remided the public to maintain social distancing and wear face mask. However, public transportation is still limited.

Private vehicles are allowed but passengers must keep their distance from one another. Lots of netizens questioned the new guidelines saying it’s unfair to other workers.
In a previous article, Senator Grace Poe said Filipino workers walking kilometers just to reach their workplace and return home should “not be part of the new normal.” He urged the government to provide assistance to workers who do not have their own private vehicles.
“The daily commute and walk must not exact a toll on our workers — exposing them to the dangers in the streets and unfavorable weather conditions,” Poe said.

On Thursday, May 21, Phistar shared several photos of the bicycle sellers in Manila on their Twitter account. In the caption, they said these sellers assemble and restore surplus and second-hand bicycles as sales increase due to lack of public transport.
This is definitely good news for all the workers who don’t have a motorcycle or car. Here are the photos:
