Super Spreader Causes Spikes In COVID-19 Cases In South Korea

SUPER SPREADER SOUTH KOREA – After easing restrictions due to reduced cases of COVID-19, South Korea saw another sudden spike in cases.

Previously, it was reported that merely one woman caused 80% of the infections in Daegu. But, after South Korea’s aggressive efforts, the number of COVID-19 cases started to decline rapidly.

As such, South Korea began to lift the lockdown and allowed non-essential businesses such as bars to reopen. This was where our super spreader came in.

According to a report from Sky News, South Korea suddenly saw a spike of 40 new coronavirus cases. It was the first time in about a month that the number of daily cases reached so high.

This was just after South Korea’s capital reopened 2100 if its nightclubs and bars. Following the spike, the government ordered the bars to be shut down yet again. Additionally, 6000 venues were also closed in the surrounding province.

Afterward, contract tracing was immediately conducted, However, the results of the tracing revealed that the infections were mostly due to one 29-year-old man.

As per the report, this single man went on a pub crawl, going from one bar to another, to make up for the lost time when he was under lockdown. Because of this, the man infected at least a dozen people.

Furthermore, around 30 cases of the virus were linked to the five nightclubs he visited. In lieu of this, more than 7,200 people were exposed to the super spreader.

Now, South Korea has braced for another wave of COVID-19 to hit. As a result, Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip stated: “A drop of ink in clear water spreads swiftly”.
