Here’s is the job now of former Streetboys member Spencer Reyes

Former Streetboys member Spencer Reyes has shared the story about his high-paying job in Scotland.

The Streetboys is known as one of the popular dance groups in the Philippines during the late 1990s until 2000s. When the showbiz stints of the group ended some of them ventured into another career while some remained in the industry just like Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario.

On the other hand, one of those members who found another career is Spencer Reyes. Based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, he had several jobs before he went to Scotland.

The former dancer shared that he has been living in England from 2008 to 2014 and he worked there as a nurse. Spencer also studied Electrical Engineering, Plumbing and Heating at a vocational school

Then, Spencer, his wife and three children moved to Scotland and applied as a bus driver which gave him a hard time. “Napakahirap pumasok as bus driver. You need to do some examinations. Kasi may license dito sa kotse. Pag pumasa ka dun, merong tinatawag nilang theory and hazard. Pag pumasa ka dun, magsi-celebrate ka talaga kasi aaral ka talaga ng makapal na libro,” the former dancer said.

However, he was not hired immediately because he needed to pass another license specifically required for bus drivers. “I need to study again for almost 6 months, review again. Kailangan maipasa mo yung hazard and theory, tapos another…almost 10 na online test na mapasa mo yun. Pag hindi mo mapasa isa dun, hindi ka magiging bus driver dito,” he added.

Although he did not reveal the exact pay that he gets for his job but Spencer Reyes said that bus drivers have a high income. It was said that Asians are seldom accepted in this kind of job in Scotland.

Spencer also shared that he continues doing his job amid the lockdown due to COVID-19. “Essentials ako dito eh, nagda-drive ako ng bus. Kailangan ko magdala ng mga nurse sa hospital eh. Ako yung naghahatid ng mga nurse na nagtatrabaho sa hospital. Naka-mask, naka-PPE, makapal yung glasses ko,” he said.

The former dancer said that he really misses the entertainment industry in the Philippines. Based on the article, he and his fellow former Streetboys members talk to each other almost everyday through video conferencing.
