According to DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, the form is to determine what kind of method of teaching a child is appropriate. He said this is to provide a child with the right and adequate help as he or she is studying the next school year while the COVID-19 threat exists in the country.

However, he insisted that parents and children do not have to go to schools physically to enroll. Briones said this could be done online or by any means as long as social distancing was followed.

The approved enrollment date for the school year 2020-2021 will be June 1 to 30, 2020. DepEd’s Learning Continuity Plan has four types of learning delivery options such as face-to-face, blended learnings, distance learnings, homeschooling and other teaching methods depending on the COVID-19 case scenario in one place.

Meanwhile, experts warned that reopening of schools in Metro Manila this August 24 or September 1, would increase the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This may lead to rapid increase as students might bring the virus home and infect most vulnerable members of their families.

However, even the physical opening of class on the said date, school officials such as teacher and principals should implement COVID-19 safety measures, said Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) or the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
