2-Year-Old Baby In Quezon With No Travel History Infected With Corona

2-YEAR-OLD INFECTED – A baby in Quezon City has tested positive for COVID-19 even with no travel history.

The new coronavirus, COVID-19 has an easier time targeting the elderly and sickly. However, the virus has also been known to target younger individuals – sometimes, too young.

This has been the case for a child residing in Buenavista Quezon City. What’s more alarming is that the child has no travel history outside of their area. As such, this prompted an investigation into local transmissions of the virus.

According to a report from GMA, the child started to show symptoms of the virus on April 17. Following this, the baby was quickly taken to Gumaca for treatment. Afterward, a swab-test for the coronavirus was taken on April 19.

Furthermore, the child was admitted in the hospital until April 24 and continued to remain under home quarantine for 14 days. But, on May 10, Sunday, the lab results for the swab came back positive for coronavirus.

Luckily, the baby was reportedly healthy and strong and showed no symptoms of the virus. As per the report, the child was then taken to a hospital in Lucena City.

Moreover, due to the new reported COVID-19 case, the Local Government Unit of their area conducted contact tracing.

Currently, Quezon City has reported over 1,558 cases of COVID-19. However, Cebu City surpassed this number on Sunday with 1,474 cases reported.

Due to the aggressive testing done in Cebu City, the number of reported COVID-19 cases continued to rise. As of May 7, the city has conducted over 10,300 coronavirus tests.
