Karen Davila apologized, Manny Pacquiao reacted
Senator Manny Pacquiao reacted to the apology of Kapamilya broadcast journalist Karen Davila over her ‘college degree’ question.
To recall, back in February of 2019, Manny guested on ANC’s Headstart hosted by Karen. The journalist asked the senator if he is in favor that it will be required that senators and presidents should have a college degree.
“Ah, sa akin, sang-ayon naman ako dun,” the boxing champ-turned-politician said. Then, Karen said, “Pero kung gano’n, baka hindi ka na mag-qualify.” The senator answered that he was studying at that time which prompted the host to ask more questions such as what school and if he has a college degree.
Because of that, many netizens bashed the journalist for her “rude” way of interviewing her guest. In the May 7 episode of ANC‘s Headstart, Karen and Manny shared the same screen again and before interviewing the senator, the host said her apology.
“The last time we had an interview… this is my personal effort to let you know, there was a bit of a misunderstanding noong pinag-usapan natin na nagtatapos kayo ng kolehiyo. I wanna take this opportunity kasi marami pa rin po, who I think misunderstand and feel na I was condescending toward you,” she said.
Karen Davila added that she has been admiring the senator for a long time now. Manny Pacquiao said that he did not feel that it was something that would bother him.
“Deep in my heart, I have no…I am not hurt of that question that you asked me. Hindi ako nasaktan diyan kung ano man, wala sa isip ko yun, dahil totoo naman, hindi ko dapat i-announce yung… nag-aral ako that time. Nag-aaral ako,” the lawmaker said.
He added that at that time, he can’t announce the school where he was studying because he might get an impression that he is just boasting. “And then, thank you for clarifying that, wala ‘kong sama ng loob sa iyo. Nagpapasalamat ako that you asked me that question…” Manny said.
