MANILA – two (2) men who are also affected by the health crisis returned the P8,000 cash aid from SAP as they already received assistance from SSS.
The men identified Bernie Rejano Donato and Carlos Simbillo in Las Piñas City returned their P8,000 cash aid received from Social Amelioration Program of government. The two were both loss their jobs due to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), government’s action to contain the spread of coronavirus.
According to ABS-CBN News, Donato, 26, is an aircon installer from Barangay Daniel Fajardo while 38-year-old Simbillo is an aircon technician from Barangay CAA. Therefore, they qualified for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) SAP due to coronavirus lockdown and received assistance on May 6.
Unbeknownst to them, their employer had even processed their aid from the Social Security System (SSS), so they received both of the government’s assistance. They decided to just give back SAP aid.
According to them, they know how difficult the situation right now and there are people who still need help. The City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office did not specify whether the money will be transferred to another beneficiary or return to the main office. But the Las Piñas city government is grateful and said the two are good examples in the midst of the crisis.
Earlier this month, lots of qualified beneficiaries returned the cash aid they have received as some of them are already a member of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), while some has a family member that already received the aid from another barangay.
