Here’s the response of the Supreme Court regarding ABS-CBN’s petition
The Supreme Court released an official statement on Friday regarding the petition of ABS-CBN against the cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
ABS-CBN filed a temporary restraining order to counter the cease and desist order from the NTC following the networks expired franchise. The network signed off last May 5 and this saddened many fans of the Kapamilya network who have been supporting it for several decades.
Though the network followed the order, it resorted to a measure seeking the decision of SC.
The Petition came after the defense of the network against the cease and desist order stating that it is against “press freedom”.
On May 8, SC released an official statement regarding the petition of the Kapamilya network against NTC. In the statement, the judiciary said, “The Petition will be raffled to a Member-in-Charge on Monday, 11 May 2020, who will then make recommendation for the consideration of the Court En Banc.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an earlier report from the Manila Bulletin that the Palace will let SC decide regarding ABS-CBN Petition against NTC. He said that it is the right of the giant TV network to file a petition.
“Thatâs their right. Letâs await [the] decision of the Court,â he said. The Spokesperson also said, “Sinabi na nga po ng Presidente, âNeutral ako diyan. Gawin niyo na ang katungkulan niyo, bumoto nang ayon sa inyong konsensiya.â“
Roque added that if ABS-CBN will prove that it has not done any violation, President Rodrigo Duterte will not be inclined to veto the ABS-CBNâs legislative franchise, based on the report.
