Cause of Death of Direk Peque Gallaga Who Passed Away at 76 Years Old
PEQUE GALLAGA – Here is the reported cause of death of the legendary filmmaker who died at 76 years old, May 7.
The Philippine filmmaking industry grieves over the loss of a legendary director, Direk Peque Gallaga. His death which came yesterday, May 7, left countless hearts broken.
Direk Peque is a multi-awarded filmmaker. His brilliance in directing is recognized not only in the country but as well as abroad. He is most famous for his Oro, Plata, Mata, a film about two (2) rich Filipino families who went through a lot as they escaped.
The Oro, Plata, Mata gained Direk Peque his international award from the International Film Festival of Flanders-Ghent in Belgium. He was also given a Special Jury Award from the Manila International Film Festival and the 2004 Gawad CCP Para sa Sining.
Direk Peque is married to Madie and they reside in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. His vision has molded a lot of young hearts who will surely live with his teachings.
Yesterday, Dr. Ricky Gallaga, the brother of the late filmmaker, confirmed that he passed away. He died at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod.
Based on a post on Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, Direk Peque Gallaga’s cause of death is pneumonia. It was 11:45 in the morning when the filmmaker passed away yesterday.
