ABS-CBN Signing Off – The biggest TV network in the Philippines is losing this amount each day since it went off the air.

For 65 years, ABS-CBN has been a part of many households in the country for bringing entertaining shows, as well as news and public affairs programs. However, since last year, the issue regarding the franchise of the network has been a hot topic.

Now, it reached to the point that the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered its broadcast to stop. Complying with the order, ABS-CBN went off the air on the night of May 5.

Despite that situation, its primetime news program TV Patrol used other platforms in order to continue its broadcast. However, the media company is fighting against the decision of NTC and they brought the matter to the Supreme Court.

In a recent report, it was stated that SC will have to decide regarding the petition of ABS-CBN on Monday, May 11.

Kapamilya stars and those in the news department continue to show support on social media for their home network. Ging Reyes, the head of the news department called the move of NTC as “treachery” because it has “promised the Congress it would give network provisional authority”.

Based on the recent Twitter post from ABS-CBN News Channel, Reyes also said that the digital platforms are not enough to reach Filipinos across the country.

In the same Twitter post, the ABS-CBN head of news also revealed that the TV network loses “P35 million daily with its broadcast services off the air.” Reyes stated this during the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) online protest.
