Vico Sotto: Ex-PBA Player Roger Yap Denies Cursing At Pasig Frontliner

Ex-PBA Player Roger Yap Meets W/ Mayor Vico Sotto

VICO SOTTO – Former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Roger Yap revealed that he and Pasig City Mayor Sotto already met in his office to clear the air.

On Vico Sotto’s recent Facebook Live session, he lambasted a former PBA player for allegedly shouting and cursing at a frontliner who was distributing cash aid. He did not mention the name of the retired basketball player but he said he’s a former teammate of his brother-in-law Marc Pingris.

The 30-year-old politician released P1 billion from their city government’s trust fund to help the residents who were not covered by the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). He vowed that all the residents in Pasig City will receive their supplemental SAP.

Vico Sotto said the ex-PBA player complained that the cash assistance was too small so he allegedly vented out his anger towards the city hall personnel. He condemned the treatment of the basketball player saying he didn’t even realize the sacrifices these people did just to help amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“‘Yung sense of entitlement ng ibang tao, grabe talaga. Ito mga frontliners natin na nagpapagod, over beyond the call of duty tapos mumura-murahin ng taong ‘yun?” he said.

Based on a report from Spin, the ex-PBA player who allegedly cursed at a frontliner was Roger Yap. The former PBA All-Star, said the frontliner may have misinterpreted him because of his Bisaya accent.

The 42-year-old player said he was just telling the city hall personnel to advise the residents to maintain a physical distance when distributing the relief goods.

According to the report, Roger Yap went to Vico Sotto’s office after the mayor’s FB Live went viral. The ex-PBA player denied all the accusations and he’s not mad for sharing the incident on social media.

“I hope he clears this soon.
