Here’s how Richard Gomez responded to a question about ABS-CBN from this person.
RICHARD GOMEZ – Actor turned Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez has this reaction about the shutting down of ABS-CBN as ordered by NTC.
Instead of issuing a provisional authority to operate for ABS-CBN as what was said last March, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), instead, issued a cease and desist order versus the Kapamilya network with an instruction to sign off because their franchise has already expired.
Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao urged NTC to do what they have said and that is to grant ABS-CBN a provisional permit to continue operation. Megastar Sharon Cuneta also got broken and was crying when her network for 30 years signed off. She’s weeping for those people who lost their jobs because of the closing down in a snap.
And now, Richard Gomez, a former Kapamilya actor who turned Ormoc City mayor, has this unexpected answer to Communications Undersecretary Rocky Ignacio when he asked him about the ABS-CBN shut down.
“Naku, Usec Rocky, baka mas maganda yata kayo sasagot niyan dahil kayo sa gobyerno ang nagpahinto sa pag-broadcast ng ABS-CBN,” he said as he also let out a chuckle during the Laging Handa briefing. Gomez is the one who played “Ricky” the comedy show Palibhasa Lalake which premiered on 1987 in ABS-CBN.
He also shared that his fellow celebrities, no matter what status, are under a “no work, no pay” scheme. They earn nothing if they don’t work. Aside from that, just like everyone else, according to Rappler, his heart goes out to thousands of people who were forced to stop working because of the shut down.
