BTAO head Police Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche confirmed the report that they also fined 254 violating tricab drivers since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the city, according to SunStar.

“These units were impounded because they continued to operate during the ECQ,”

Among the protocols in the ECQ in the city includes the suspension of public transportation.

Acebuce also said that erring drivers can claim their vehicle at the local City Police Office headquarters once they pay their penalty after the ECQ.

He also clarified that the public can use their tricycle to buy foods, but they should have a quarantine pass and observe social distancing.

As per the report, several traffic enforcers were designated to different checkpoints in order to aid the frontliners, says Acebuce, who also urged the drivers to follow the ECQ guidelines in order to avoid penalties.
