Nine Men In Compostela Town, Cebu Arrested For Cockfighting
COMPOSTELA TOWN – Nine individuals were arrested in Barangay Panangban, Compostela town in Cebu after getting involved in illegal cockfighting.
The suspects, among those were mostly from Liloan town, will be charged for illegal gambling, as well as violating ECQ protocol, in lieu of the Republic Act No. 11469, also known as the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
The arrested were identified as the following:
- Fritz Pilapil, aged 30, of Barangay Mulao, Liloan
- Efren Pardo, aged 57, from Barangay Cabadiangan, Compostela;
- Jimmy Ayuda, aged 31, from Cabadiangan, Compostela;
- Jessie Castro, aged 47, from Barangay Mulao, Liloan;
- Fidelino Bataluna, aged 54, from Barangay Panangban, Compostela;
- Felix Magale, aged 39, from Barangay Cabadiangan, Liloan;
- Alberto Reuyan, aged 50, from Barangay Mulao, Liloan;
- Jepper Bombio, aged 29 from Barangay Mulao, Liloan;
- Fedrito Bombio, aged 58, from Barangay Mulao, Liloan
As per the report, Captain Vincent Zozobrado of the local police chief that they received the informaton from residents that there was a cockfight that was held in the area every Sunday.
Recovered from them were seven live fowls used of cockfighting, two dead ones, two gaffs, and ₱2,000 cash.
The suspects are under the custody of the local Police Station as charges against them are pending.
