Korina Slams Calida – Kapamilya broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez slammed Solicitor General Jose Calida following the cease and desist order against ABS-CBN issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
On May 5, NTC ordered the Kapamilya network to stop its broadcast including its radio stations. Prior to this, as the franchise expired on May 4, Calida warned NTC that it could face charges after the provisional authority (PA) was granted.
Several Senators condemn the decision of NTC against the TV network. Following this, artists and employees of ABS-CBN expressed their grievances on social media.
In Korina’s recent Instagram post, she fired back to the Solicitor General for his “effort” to close the network. She even shared that Calida used to be closed with her mom and they attend the same Bible Study. “Sino na kaya ngayon ang Diyos ni Calida? Pilit pinapasarado ang ABSCBN kahit labag sa batas? Kelan at paano kaya pwede ipakulong ang mga totoong abusado?” the broadcast journalist said.
Korina also shared a statement from Congressman Franz Alvarez. According to the statement, the Congress is taking this matter seriously because “it directly challenges our exclusive Constitutional authority to grant, deny, extend, revoke or modify broadcast franchises.”
The statement further explained that the Committee on Legislative Franchises already urged the NTC to allow the TV network to operate until the “House of Representatives makes a final decision on the application” that will give them the necessary time to assess on the matter.
“The Solicitor General should have the decency to give Congress this courtesy to complete the exercise of its power,” the statement shared by Korina Sanchez said.
