10 To 13 Tropical Storms To Enter/Develop Within PAR During Wet Season
TROPICAL STORMS – President Duterte said that about 10 to 13 tropical storms may enter or develop within PAR during the wet season this year.
The president made this statement as part of updating lawmakers on the Angat Dam water level, which has 96% of Metro Manila’s water needs.
He cited the forecasts from the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) that the water level will not drop below 180 meters, which is the minimum operating level, in June 2020.
“as the country expects 10 to 13 tropical cyclones to enter or develop inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility from May to October 2020,”
As per the report, the country face at about 20 tropical cyclones anually. Hundreds of people were killed due to the storms, and homes, infrastructure and other properties were destroyed.
