LGU Withdraw SAP Cash of 2 Elderly Women after Found They’re Pensioners

OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – two (2) elder women air dismay when LGU withdraw the social amelioration program (SAP) cash after discovered they are pensioners.

Under the SAP beneficiaries, only the poor can receive cash assistance in the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis. 4Ps recipient, pensioners and people still receiving monthly income are not included on the qualified beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Evelyn Bautista and Teodirica Tampelic, residents from Palauan, Occidental Mindoro said that they were disappointed that only a small amount had been given to them but have been withdraw.

“Ang sakit din po kaya kahit pa isipin mo na kami ay may kaunting pension eh pare-pareho lang naman tayong mamamayan na nangangailangan lalo na sa pagkakataong ito,” said Bautista.

“Mahalagang mahalaga po sa akin dahil nagme-maintenance po ako na P64 araw-araw. Wala ako magawa binawi eh,” Tampelic also said.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), meanwhile, defended the proposed revocation because they only followed the head office’s guidelines.

However, according to the local government, the SAP cash assistance revoked from the two elderly woman will be replaced by the town’s mayor relief assistance.
