Authorities Seized 21k Full-Grown Marijuana Plants in Sulu Plantation

With joint forces of authorities, they seized a total of 21k full-grown marijuana plants worth P4.2M from five plantations in Sulu on Friday.

The Naval Forces Western Mindanao said that there were plants discovered in the Municipality of Kalingalan Caluang. An estimated P4.2 million worth of marijuana plants were confiscated.

According to the report of GMA News, Naval intelligence, Philippine Marine Corps, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Sulu joint forces to arrest a known drug personality and his cohorts at Sitio Mangal Manga in Barangay Masjid Punjungan in Caluang. 4 a.m. Friday.

However, their targets possibly have an idea on the said operation, they were not spotted on the place during the raid.  Authorities then discovered the marijuana plants in the area, they uprooted them and burned them on site.

The Fleet-Marine Team will continue to work with other government agencies to go after the owner of the plantations and put to stop the growing marijuana in Sulu, The Naval Forces Western Mindanao said.

Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte supports the use of marijuana, but for medical purposes. Cannabidiol (CBD), a pain reliever containing cannabis to treat epilepsy. However, the President will base on concrete scientific findings and effectiveness to approve the legalization.
