Medical Staff in Northern Mindanao Tests Positive for COVID-19
NORTHERN MINDANAO – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that a medical staff in the region tested positive for COVID-19.
Several places in the Philippines are still under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) now until May 15. It is due to the coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in the country.
In other areas considered with low and medium risk, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the National IATF. The body suggested to implement a General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
The authorities continue to remind the public to stay at home as much as possible. It is to curb the spread of the disease in the country. Sadly, amid the fight, several medical personnel were infected by the disease.
Recently, Northern Mindanao confirmed that a medical staff tested positive for COVID-19. It is the first case involving a medical personnel in the region.
Based on a report on the Philippine Information Agency, Department of Health (DOH)-10 Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an expressed that the medical staff was infected by a relative. The said relative of the staff passed away.
According to the report, the medical staff that was infected by COVID-19 in Northern Mindanao was the one taking care of the relative who died of the disease.
Suba-an expressed that they are doing their best to protect the medical workers from COVID-19. Every day, these frontliners are exposed to risks as they treat suspected and confirmed cases of the disease.
Based on the report, new sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs) are set to be distributed in the different hospitals in the region. The said PPEs have already arrived at the Office of Civil Defense and DOH warehouses.
