New Study Claims Sunlight Quickly Destroys Coronavirus, US Official Says
A senior US official said that a new study is claiming that sunlight could easily and quickly destroy the coronavirus disease.
On Thursday (April 24, 2020), Department of Homeland Security science and technology advisor to the secretary William Bryan said that the scientists of their government discovered that the ultraviolet rays could severely affect the virus.
Bryan showed some slides summarizing the experiment results at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center. The study claims that a temperature of 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit could reduce the virus ‘s life by half.
“Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect that solar light appears to have on killing the virus, both surfaces and in the air, We’ve seen a similar effect with both temperature and humidity as well, where increasing the temperature and humidity or both is generally less favorable to the virus.” Bryan said.
Willian also concluded that the virus transmission could be reduced especially during summer-like weather conditions. However, social distancing could not be lifted yet since there’s still a possibility of transmission. He also advised the public to obey the guidelines.
