TESDA offers free online courses
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is offering free online courses amid the community quarantine due to COVID-19.
TESDA features 68 short courses for those who want to learn new skills while in quarantine. Among the programs offered are bread production, cookery, hot and cold meals preparation, healthcare, and massage therapy. Interested learners can also enroll in courses like fruit growing and vegetable gardening. Other choices are automotive courses and electronics courses.
Based on the report from CNN Philippines, TESDA Director General Sec. Isidro Lapeña said, “Para may magawa ang ating mga kababayan, we came up with the TESDA Online Program. We enhanced it para ma-avail ng ating mga kababayan.”

He also so said that videos for learning will be available online and quizzes will be given for assessment. “Once na mag-normalize ang sitwasyon, kailangan mo magtake ng assessment kasi kailangan ng physical presence para ma-assess nila yung paggamit mo ng equipment at kung ang skills ay kwalipikado na,” he added.
Students who will complete the free online courses will be given certificates of completion. This will be given to them after taking assessment tests at the technical school and this will be done after the quarantine.
The TESDA director general is glad to announce that there are 152,000 enrollees in the online courses. Fortunately, there is no age requirement for the free courses.
