Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella Confirms 139 New COVID-19 Cases in the City
CEBU CITY – Mayor Edgar Labella confirmed that 139 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the city with 123 of them from the city jail.
Philippines is now fighting against the spread of coronavirus or COVID-19. This disease which was first recorded in China has infected people in over 200 countries across the globe now.
Currently, there is a total of 6,599 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the country. According to the Department of Health (DOH), 437 of these patients died while 654 recovered from the disease.
The entire Luzon now is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Visayas and Mindanao provinces are also implementing the same.
In PH, one of the cities with a high number of COVID-19 cases is Cebu City. Barangay Luz was placed under lockdown after Sitio Zapatera in the said barangay was considered infected by the DOH and 82 people tested positive for the disease in just a day.
Personnel wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) came to the said barangay. It is stated in viral posts on social media that it all started with a person under monitoring who did not follow the quarantine protocol.
Recently, Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella gave an update about the coronavirus cases in the city. In posts on his Facebook account, it is stated that 139 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the city and 123 of it are from the city jail.
Nine (9) of the cases were from Labangon, three (3) from Barrio Luz, and one (1) each from C. Padilla, Casambagan, Inayawan, and CCHO. Based on the post, the said 139 new COVID-19 cases in Cebu City are from the mass testing administered.
