‘Tuli on Wheels,’ Toured in Cavite to Gives free Circumcision Teen Boys
TULI ON WHEELS – is launched in Carmona, Cavite to give free circumcision to teenage boys amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
‘Tuli’ or circumcision is a common tradition of Filipino young men every summer break. But due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis the Philippines facing right now, young lads are not allowed to go to hospital due to threat of getting infected.
However, it is not a problem for young lads who want to be circumcised in Carmona, Cavite because circumcision will go to them with “Tuli on Wheels”. This made if they can’t go to hospitals because of the enhanced community quarantine and fear of being infected by COVID-19.
In a report of GMA News, it is said that inside the van the circumcision was performed in front of the patient’s house. The vehicle was once a mobile dental of the local government but now it is the vehicle for circumcision, which go house to house to give free service.
As safety measure, doctors and nurses wear personal protective equipment to perform circumcision. Meanwhile, the young lad is undergoing a screening and temperature check before circumcision.In one day, 15 to 20 children were circumcised in Carmona. The circumcision process takes about 20 minutes.
According to Mayor Roy Loyola, “Oplan Manhood on Wheels” has started since April 1 to perform circumcision on children. Loyola said the LGU aims to circumcise about 600 youths until the program ends in May.
“Nandiyan na ‘yong mga gamot namin eh. We’ve acquired them bago pa mangyari itong enhanced community quarantine,” Loyola said.
In addition to circumcision, door-to-door vaccination is also available to children and adults, while pregnant women have free prenatal checkup. The COVID-19 case remains one in Carmona, and the patient is recovering.
