Recently, James Agustin, GMA News Reporter, shared some photos of Philippine National Police’s elite Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) onboard an armored multi-purpose vehicle (AMPV) patrolling Blumentritt Market in Manila on Tuesday morning.

According to Agustin, the SAF members were deployed to enforce and maintain social distancing to the market-goers amid enhanced community quarantine implemented, government measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, no home quarantine pass individuals are not allowed to enter the market. Also, vulnerable members of society including pregnant women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities are not allowed to enter the market.

Aside from stricter implementation of social distancing, marketgoers body temperatures are also being checked. They are also required to wear face mask.

As of now, President Rodrigo Duterte has not yet released decision on implementing “martial law-like” enhanced community quarantine. This means, military forces will take over the implementation of ECQ as residents still continue to violate rules.
