DPWH Staff Dies Before Its COVID-19 Test Results Has Been Released
A DPWH staff who worked at PICC Quarantine Facility has passed away while waiting for its COVID-19 test results.
On Sunday (April 20, 2020), the Department of Public Works and Highways announced that one of their employees who is assigned at the Philippine International Convention Center Quarantine Facility dies.
DPWH Build Build Build Committee chairperson Anna Mae Lamentillo said that the victim died before its test results for coronavirus has been released. Lamentillo also said that the employee experienced diarrhea.
“He exhibited diarrhea and was already tested for COVID-19. We are now awaiting results of the test,” Lamentillo said.
Lamentillo said that the agency has already informed the family of the victim and started contact tracing. DPWH also gave assistance to employee’s family after the incident.
The department that DPWH employees who had contact with the infected staff are required to undergo self-quarantine while waiting for the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine to released their test results.
As of this writing, there are 6,259 coronavirus cases in the Philippines. 409 of them died and 572 have already recovered from the disease.
