Tarlac Governor Donates Salary For COVID-19 Response

TARLA – The governor of Tarlac, Susan Yap, donated her 3-month pay to purchase rapid COVID-19 test kits.

All governments and health experts are fighting to contain the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). People who showed symptoms of fever, shortness of breath and dry cough will be tested.

Due to the limited number of test kits, doctors are ordered to minimize unnecessary testing. In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded nearly 5000 coronavirus cases, 242 recoveries, and 315 deaths.

On Monday, April 13, the provincial government of Tarlac took to social media to gave an update about their COVID-19 cases. In a Facebook post, they revealed there were over 2000 persons under monitoring (PUM). They have 21 coronavirus cases in their province.

The governor of Tarlac, Susan Yap, decided to donate her 3-month salary sot that they could buy 500 rapid COVDI-19 test kits amid the pandemic. The news was announced on the ‘Provincial Government of Tarlac’ Facebook Page.

Based on the caption, the test kits that are worth P375,000 will be used by Tarlac Provincial Hospital and other public hospitals.

“The rapid test kits amounting to P375,000 will be used by the Tarlac Provincial Hospital [TPH] and other government hospitals in the province in testing probable Covid-19 cases.”
