Netizen Slams Duque For Advisory Discouraging Use Of Sanitation Tents, Misting

NETIZEN SLAMS DUQUE – Amid the coronavirus crisis in the Philippines, several countermeasures where imposed to curve its spread.

Some of these measures included placing Luzon in an extended enhanced community quarantine. Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines had also set up sanitation tents to provide whole-body spraying of disinfectants.

However, Health Secretary Francisco Duque had recently released a statement that discouraged the use of these methods. According to DOH, misting had “no evidence to support that spraying of surfaces or large scale misting of areas, indoor or outdoor with disinfecting agents, kills the virus.”

Health Under Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also stated that several people reported getting skin problems and asthma. Instead, the DOH recommends soaking objects or to disinfect surfaces to kill the virus.

This led to netizen Pablo Hernandez lashing out against Duque’s decision. He noted that the health secretary should go to Vietnam and attend a seminar on the effectiveness of misting and sanitation tents against COVID-19.

Likewise, Deputy Speaker Dan Fernandez also slammed the DOH for advising against misting or spraying. Fernandez added that several LGU’s and the public have already spent time and money for these disinfection methods.

Meanwhile, the DOH was late to make the announcement that doing so would be harmful.

As such Fernandez stated:
