DOH Says Number of Dead Bodies at East Ave. Med. Center Reach 51

Number of Dead Bodies at East Avenue Medical Center Reach 51, DOH Secretary Duque Says

The Department of Health said that the number of dead bodies at East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City has reached 51.

Last weekend, Kapuso reporter Arnold Clavio has been one of the most controversial personalities online after exposing the real status of coronavirus disease in the Philippines. His statement sparks reactions online.

Clavio has shared the screenshots of a conversation from a frontliner stating that the bodies of COVID-19 casualties are piling up along the hallway of a certain hospital in Metro Manila and some health workers have been infected.

Recently, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III said that 51 dead bodies have been found at the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City. Duque clarified that not all of them were COVID019 patients.

Only 14 out of 51 dead bodies at the morgue hallway of the hospital are coronavirus patients. Some of them died due to other types of diseases, according to the health secretary. “Dumating sa punto na 51 ang patay, 14 doon ay COVID-19 positive,” Duque said.

Duque also denied the reports that the bodies are piling up at the hospital and explained that the remains were properly placed at cadaver bags and stretchers.

“Madali lang naman sana na tumawag sa akin, at madali ko sanang naipaliwanag. Wala pong utos ang DOH na itigil ang pag-uulat ng COVID death. Wala pong naging ganong kautusan,” Duque added.
